Jason was raised in Dubuque, attended Dubuque Hempstead High School, and received his Bachelor of Natural Science from the University of Northern Iowa and his Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa (class of 1998).
While attending the University of Northern Iowa, Jason was a two-time all-conference runner in cross country and track, and an all-conference academic selection for both. Jason competed in 3000m to 10000m events. Upon graduation, he continued to run competitively and train for racing ranging from 800m to marathon. He was also an assistant track coach for his alma mater from 1998 to 2008, coaching several Drake Relays and state qualifiers, including Hempstead’s first-ever track state champion in the 800m.
In June of 2000, Jason started working for Dubuque Physical Therapy in the Westside Orthopedic building in Dubuque, Iowa. He became a partner in 2005 and sole owner in 2008 and, since that time, has continued to provide the highest quality service to its clients. Jason opened his second clinic later in 2008 at its current location near Finley Hospital. In March of 2016, Jason moved his Westside Orthopedic clinic to its current location on the corner of JFK and Asbury. Then in 2016, Jason added Merge Performance Institute to the JFK location which offers a variety of post-rehabilitation training, community fitness/training programs, and sports performance training.
Jason has been working with clients associated with orthopedic issues, sports medicine, and workers compensation, and has special interest in evaluating and treating running-related issues.
